Ear (Otoplasty & large ear hole correction)

Ear Surgery, or otoplasty is a cosmetic procedure done to correct large or protruding ears.

Loboplasty or earhole correction is a type of otoplasty which is the technical term for earlobe reshaping/resizing surgery. It is yet another very common procedure done to correct enlarged earholes on the earlobe. Genetics, trauma and heavy earrings can contribute to stretched, wrinkly earlobes that appear misshapen and enlarged marring your appearance.

The shape and size of the lower part of your ears, specifically your earlobes, contributes to the overall aesthetics of your face. If you are born with unusually large or small ears, otoplasty is the procedure by which this can be surgically rectified.

Ear piercings can sometimes become large and unshapely over time. This can be corrected safely and quickly with loboplasty by your skilled surgeon.

Procedure

During the otoplasty procedure, the ears are set back closer to the head. This may involve molding, shaping and/or removing cartilage to pull the ears in reducing protrusion.

First, an incision is made behind the ear where it is joined to the head. Excess cartilage and skin is removed to achieve optimal symmetry and the desired effect. The cartilage maybe trimmed to reshape it and then pinned back with permanent sutures. In some cases, the cartilage may not need to be removed at all but simply stitched to reshape it. Incisions and resulting scars will be concealed behind the ear.

Elongated, misshapen and stretched earlobes can safely be corrected with loboplasty. It is often done in children and adults as well. For simple corrections the procedure will require no more than 15 to 45 minutes. However, extensive corrections where the cartilage is affected may require an hour or more. Results will ensure that you get the normal appearance that you always desired.
