Fat Grafting (Fat Injection)
Fat grafting, also referred to as fat transfer or fat injections, is the surgical process by which fat is transferred from one area of the body to another. The surgical goal is to improve or augment the area where the fat is injected.
When transferring fat, the advantage as compared to fillers is that you’re using autologous tissue (your own tissue) and not foreign material. Fat injection is useful in correcting contour deformities of the face like sunken cheeks or to plump up the lips. It is also an excellent procedure for augmenting breasts and buttocks.
Fat grafting, or autologous fat transfers, is a surgical reconstruction technique that adds fat to give the appearance of being “fuller.”
